Learn about the history of aquaculture in Idaho with this informative site from Idaho AFS. Starting in 1999, Mick Hoover and Sharon Clark of the Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game began collecting and cataloguing historically significant documents, photos, tools, equipment and other artifacts specific to the management and preservation of Idaho’s fisheries resources. Beginning in 2020, this site was created by the ICAFS Aquaculture Committee to digitally showcase pieces from that collection and other sources that tell the story of aquaculture in Idaho. The galleries located within this site highlight the early history of aquaculture in Idaho. The foci of these galleries are on fish hatchery development, including: the people who helped establish and maintain them, the tools and equipment used in fish production, and the written record of how hatcheries evolved to their current status.
