Federal Aquaculture Regulations

There are a number of federal agencies that regulate fish and shellfish culture in the U.S., and sometimes it can be difficult to determine which entity is responsible for what aspects of aquaculture.  The following fact sheets were developed to help culturists navigate the federal regulatory waters.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

U.S. Food and Drug Administration Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition

U.S. Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicine

Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species
